Trans Bay Cable is a public private partnership between the City of Pittsburg, Pittsburg Power Company and Trans Bay Cable LLC. It represents the first purely privately-proposed and financed solution to meet the reliability needs of a regional utility grid in the country.

In June 2008, SteelRiver Infrastructure Fund North America, formerly Babcock & Brown Infrastructure Fund North America, acquired Trans Bay Cable LLC.

Upon reaching commercial operations all TBC assets will be transferred to Pittsburg Power Company. Trans Bay Cable LLC will retain the ownership of the Transmission System Rights and Pittsburg Power Company will contract the operations and maintenance of Trans Bay Cable to TBC Operations LLC.
